Following the announcement by President Akuffo-Addo, to seek International Monetary Fund bailout, members of the Economic Management Committee (EMC) who hitherto the announcement were frequently seen on TVs and heard on radios speaking on economic policies and programs have taken refuge in the comfort of their offices and homes and have avoided public discussions.

One man among the Economic Management Team who hasn’t shied away from responsibility but has resolved to speak to the public and put the IMF bailout in the right perspective to allay the fears of the good people of Ghana is the indefatigable Minister for Trade and Industry.

Since last two weeks, Alan Kyeremanteng has made appearances on several radio and television programs notable among them Oman Fm and Good Evening Ghana on Metro Television to paint favorable portraits of what lays ahead of Ghana as government seeks financial assistance and supervision of our fiscal policy and expenditure.

Before these appearances on the said programs, he had held a meeting with captains of industries and had urged them to remain calm and focused as the government navigates through the IMF Program. In all these programs Alan Kyeremanteng threw lights on the benefits of Ghana going to the IMF as follows:

  1. Liquidity support or balance of payment support
  2. Ensures confidence of investors
  3. Government can go back to the international capital market and seek loans for development and
  4. Friendly nations would bring additional funding to help with the transformational agenda of the government which would help the economy to bounce back.

By these actions, Alan Kyeremanteng has demonstrated he is a good leader.  He has distinguished him from among his contemporaries in the upcoming NPP Presidential primaries as the natural successor to President Akuffo Addo.

Kofi Adinkra, one of the conveners of AKYEM FOR ALAN in an interview with afropolitanonline.com, indicated that: “The Grassroots of the NPP are abreast of what Alan Kyeremanteng has done for the party over the years and will crown his efforts in the upcoming presidential candidate race.
