Activities in some suburbs of Kumasi came to standstill over the weekend as Pro-Alan groups hit the streets to participate in a Health Walk.

The Health Walk dubbed “Aduro Wo So” to wit “It’s Your Time”, was organized by supporters of Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanteng to show their solidarity and declare their support for the distinguished Trade and Industry Minister in Ashanti Region as he prepares to contest the presidential primaries in the New Patriotic Party.

Despite threats issued by the Party’s General Secretary Justine Kodua and Nana Boakye Organizer respectively to organizers to call of the Health Walk, the program came off as planned on 13th August 2022.

Large crowds numbering into tens of thousands converged in excitement at Bekwai roundabout and matched several miles through the streets of Gee roundabout, Bantama,  Abrepo Junction, Suame Roundabout, Kejetia , Adum, Asafo  and finally gathered at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium waving placards with inscriptions like “Alan, jobs for the people, cash for the people” “The man behind 1D1F” “The People’s choice” amidst statements calling on the Trade and Industry Minister to resign his post and start his campaign to lead the Party.

One of the spokespersons for the pro Alan groups, Kwadwo Korankye alias Yellow man, in an interview with afropolitnonline.com hinted: “What I have seen today is an indication that Ashantis have resolved to vote for Alan Kyeremanteng to lead the NPP. The number of participants in this Health Walk says it all. Ashanti is the heart of NPP. The hearts of NPP faithful in Ashanti are broken; most people are disappointed and hurt at the way leaders of the party have treated them. And if any delegate, MP or Party executive closes his or her eyes to this new reality of massive support shown by ordinary party men and women for Alan and decides to canvass support for another candidate then be rest assured that you have told the masses that the NPP doesn’t need their votes in the 2024 elections”

When quizzed about the chances of other candidates in the race relative to Alan Kyeremanteng, Kwadwo Korankye insisted: “The NPP must necessarily choose Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanteng if it really wants to break the eight”.

The scales of grass root support seem to have tilted in favor of Alan Kyeremanteng. What is left is for the Party to endorse him at the Presidential primaries and back him to win the 2024 General elections.
