A memo written by the minority chief whip of Ghana’s Parliament Hon Muntaka which has been sighted by afropolitanonline.com and addressed to the Speaker of Parliament seeks to draw the attention of the speaker of the minority’s resolve to have the minister of finance Mr Kenn Ofori Atta  removed from post.

This comes barely two hours after about 80 members of Parliament of the ruling NPP government did a press conference calling on President Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo-Addo to relieve Kenn Ofori-Atta of his position as finance minister.

On his face book wall, minority spokesperson on foreign affairs and member of Parliament North Tongu constituency Hon Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwah wrote:
“In compliance with Article 82 of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana, the NDC Caucus in Parliament has successfully filed a motion for his immediate removal”.
“We’re glad there’s positive indication some of our NPP colleagues will support us”
“This must be a national, non-partisan, patriotic agenda to save our country from the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia/Ofori-Atta mess which now poses a national security threat”
“Ghana First”

The scales seem to be tilting against Kenn Ofori Atta who has been the right hand man of the President since he took office in 2017. Despite the pressure from both sides of parliament, the onus lies on the President to relieve him. For now curious eyes are watching as the clock ticks by day.
