Polling Station Chairman of Chiraa SDA JHS, Kwasi Korang, has chastised certain persons in leadership positions within the National and Regional Executives of the New Patriotic Party who have consistently failed to show a good sense of neutrality in the upcoming elections to choose the flag bearer of the Party.
According to Kwasi Korang, some high profile personalities within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) including Hon. Kyei Mensah Bonsu Majority Leader of Parliament, Hon Ampratwum, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon Moses Anim MP, Deputy General Secretary of the ruling NPP, Nana Obiri Boahen, Moses Abor, Accra Regional Youth Organizer, Kwabena Senkyire, former Ashanti Regional 1st Vice Chairman, Hawa Koomson MP and Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, Andy, Chairman Wontumi’s aide, Hon Kyeremeh, etc have made statements which declared their preference for the candidature of Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia to be the Flag bearer of the party.
He noted that the public declarations of support for Dr. Bawumia by these men and women, most of whom occupy executive positions in the NPP, can undermine the activities of other candidates who may be running campaigns to lead the party as its flag bearer after the party opens nominations. “Why hasn’t any Party leader condemned such public support as it runs contrary to party rules? Does it mean the NPP doesn’t have a single leader who can reprimand these sycophants parading themselves as supporters of Dr. Bawumia a move that is causing divisions among the rank and file of the party?” Korang quizzed.
Despite John Boadu, General Secretary of the Party cautioning supporters and delegates to desist from public endorsements of some known forerunners, supporters of Dr. Bawumia continue to defy party rules and declare support for his cause.
For now, order and decorum have been thrown to the wind. However, delegates are watching and their abhorrence of such declarations will be known at Congress.
