Business mogul, Dr Kofi Amoah, has weighed into ongoing discussions on social media stemming from Veteran Journalist Kwesi Pratt’s submission on Atinka TV.
In an interview with host Kaakyire Ofori Ayim, monitored by afropolitanonline.com, the famous editor in-chief of the Insight newspaper hinted in part: “Ghana imports virtually everything. I was reading a document and I came across a portion that said Ghana is the third largest importer of tomatoes from Germany. I was shocked and ashamed of myself. As if that is not enough, it will surprise you to know Ghana imports Guinea fowls from Denmark”.
Dr Amoah, in response to Kwesi Pratt’s submission, stated on his tweeter handle: “This is the lowest point and a clear indication that the country is NOT in the hands of well meaning, capable and strategic thinkers. Alan Kyerematen Trade Minister must kindly explain”.
The tweet has since gone viral on social media and it’s courting disaffection for Alan Kyeremanteng.
However, this statement is rather unfortunate and a carefully planned misdirection coming from a man who has distinguished himself in the affairs of life. For Dr. Kofi Amoah has intentionally failed to recognize that guinea fowls are poultry birds and tomatoes are fruits and that they fall under the Ministry of Food and Agriculture hence the best person to call on his name to give answers concerning such importations is the Agric Minister Dr. Afriyie Akoto; not Alan Kyeremanteng, the hardworking Trade Minister whose Ministry has helped Ghana to have Trade Surplus.
Mr. Kwadwo Korankye popularly called Yellow Man, a staunch supporter of Alan Kyeramanteng in an interview with afropolitanonline.com rubbished Dr. Kofi Amoah’s tweet as diversionary and a distortion of the facts. He further hinted: “Some people have resolved to campaign against Alan. They have decided to throw every bad thing they can lay their hands on, at Alan but it wouldn’t work. NPP delegates will never be swayed by such dark commentaries aimed at casting doubt on the competencies of Alan Kyermanteng. He is the best man to break the eight (8)”.
Who is to blame for the importation of guinea fowl and tomatoes to Ghana? Alan Kyeremanteng or Dr. Afriyie Akoto?
