Following Kotoku Royals’ qualification into the Premier League, the team had to choose which stadium it would use for its home games. The management of the team without equivocation chose the Oda Sports Stadium.

After their choice was reported to officials of Ghana Football Association, they then proceeded to inspect the stadium and found it to be lacking the requisite facilities that would make the stadium good enough to host spectators, officials and teams. The GFA officials then requested the management of Kotoku Royals to upgrade its stadium before it could be made to host matches.

This Saturday, the President of Kotoku Royals Mr. Linford Asamoah and Oseadeeyo Frimpong Manso IV the Overload of Kotoku Kingdom who doubles as the life Patron of the team cut sod for the upgrading of the stadium.

Speaking to afropolitanonline.com, the President of Kotoku Royals, Mr. Linford Asamoah touched on the specifics of what the contractor, Amassco Engineering Co Limited, would be doing to help position the stadium to make it conducive for matches. He hinted that the contractor will be greening the pitch, fix new inner perimeter fence, build media stand for pre match and post match interviews, medical facility, and put up a two to three thousand (3000) capacity stand.

Touching on funding for the project, Mr. Linford said loads of good wishers and Kotoku citizens from across the world continue to send money to management for the work to be done.  He was optimistic that the contractor would be able to finish the project three weeks before the Premier League starts.  Mr. Linford reposed confidence in the contractor’s capacity to deliver stating “The same contractor undertook similar projects for some known teams in Ghana”.

The importance of hosting matches in Kotoku capital Oda, according to Mr. Asamoah, would help popularize the town, boost the patronage of hotels, restaurants and revive the entire business environment of the area.

Meanwhile construction works are underway and the town is positioning itself to host matches.
