Social media socialite Abena Serwaa Frimpong better known in public life as Shugatiti who opened the Potofshuga restaurant on August 6th 2022 in Osu has come under the radar of public scrutiny.
What have courted public attention of the restaurant are not the foods which are served or the unique clientele it attracts but rather the soup bowls. The soup bowl has been designed as a male’s genital and testicles howbeit with a handle and a lid. The restaurant, since its opening, has received much traffic due to the sexualized serving bowls from which soup trickles like urine dripping from a penile opening.
Lawyer and moral crusader Maurice Ampaw, in an interview with One Ghana TV monitored by afropolitanonline.com, mourned the silence and inaction of civil authorities over the design of the restaurant’s soup bowls.
Lawyer Ampaw hinted: “There are laws concerning public morals that make sure we don’t corrupt and pollute our minds. So whatever corrupts and pollutes our minds constitutes a crime. For example a man cannot expose his manhood to the public. If he does that, it’s a crime. If a person draws a man’s manhood and publishes same in the newspaper or online, in law it constitutes, obscenity or indecent exposure. So how come somebody has styled a bowl like a man’s manhood and is using same to serve in her restaurant which has gained currency on the internet and we are still looking on?
Lawyer Ampaw stated: “I’m disappointed at the behavior of Ghanaian leaders. It looks as if those we have given authority to in this country are not concerned. If this had happened in the west, the tourism sector would have gone against the owner for promoting sexual tourism. Social welfare, director of criminal investigations, director of cyber crime should pounce on her for promoting pornographic material on the internet. If you see how the restaurant is trending on the internet and observe how the First Lady, Minster of Gender, the Attorney General, CID director, director of cyber crime are not concerned, it’s worrying”.
Lawyer further urged authorities to close down the restaurant for promoting sex tourism pornography and nudity.
