The New Patriotic Party is standing on the verge of a precipice. The Party could easily tumble down and give way for the opposition National Democratic Congress to win the 2024 elections.

For now the Party’s support base is split into two. Each group is busily rallying support for one of the two leading Presidential hopefuls Dr Bawumia the Vice President of Ghana and Hon Alan Kyeremanteng the Trade Minister.

Communicators for these factions make vile and denigrating comments about their opponents; driving wedges of divisions into the party. The tension build up within the party is very high yet it continues to increase by the day and there appears to be no end in sight.

In the heat of this challenge, former Works and Housing Minister, Hon Samuel Atta Kyea seem to have an antidote to the brewing troubles: “PAIR DR. BAWUMIA WITH ALAN”

In an interview with OB on Asempa Fm monitored by afropoiltanonline.com, Atta Kyea stated: “I still hold the view of pairing Dr Bawumia with Alan. We don’t have the luxury of wasting money and the luxury of disunity under the current circumstances. The Party has warned us not to comment on the matter so much”.

Atta Kyea further hinted: “All the other Presidential hopefuls are capable of leading the Party into the elections. But if we were to look at where we are now, in my honest view, if we were to tell Dr Bawumia, the NPP is saying that you shouldn’t be a permanent mate; the mate should graduate to a driver. And if our national cohesion and unity were to stand out and if we were to perm Dr Bawumia with Hon. Alan Kyeremanteng, I tell you God will have mercy upon us and cause us to break the eight. However, if you were to throw away money in the name of elections and spend say ten million dollars what benefit would we get? If we were to spend that same quantum to push the Bawumia Alan ticket wont we get greater results?” He quizzed.

This beautiful position has also been echoed by NPP stalwart Nana Akomeah, former Information Minister in former President Kuffuor government. For now pairing the two hopefuls seem to be on the table and it wouldn’t be a bad idea at all. It would consolidate unity and properly position the party for victory in the 2024 elections.

However, in the world of politics, interests are put above and beyond every other considerations and one wonders if Dr Bawumia and Alan can ever reach a compromise and work together for victory. There is still time between now and 2023 when the Party will open nominations for Presidential primaries and no one can tell what the deliberations between the two great men would churn out.
