President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Akuffo Addo has relieved Sarah Adwoa Sarfo, Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya Constituency, of her Ministerial appointment.

Sarah Adwoa Sarfo, until this evening, was the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection.

For over six months, the minister left her office and traveled to the United States of America for medical care.

However, videos she circulated on social media in which she was seen dancing to her favorite tunes, appalled Ghanaians, many of whom thought her continuous stay in the USA on the grounds of seeking medical attention could be false.

Since then, there have been calls for her dismissal as a minister. For months, many NPP faithful wondered why her position had been preserved in her absence when there were equally capable women who could fill up that vacancy.

The President by this letter has satisfied one part of the calls by some of his Party faithful for the removal of Sarah Adwoa Sarfo as a Minister. The other call has been to declare her seat vacant and select a candidate for a bi-election for Dome Kwabenya Constituency. Party faithful have been presumed to rejoice over her sack.

We have provided the press release signed by Director of Communication, office of the President, regarding the termination of  Sarah Adwoa Sarfo’s appointment below for further reading.
