A group calling itself “The United Force and supporters of Chairman Wontumi” is calling on President Akuffo Addo to sack Abu Jinapo, Minister for Mines and Natural Resources for intentionally and deliberately peddling falsehood tinged with malice about Chairman Wontumi and his Akonta Mining firm.

Spokesperson for the group, Mr. Duncan in an interview with afropolitanonline.com hinted that the statements made by the said minister have caused incalculable and overwhelming damage to

1) The high profile personality of Chairman Wontumi

2) Akonta Miniing Company Limited

and

3) Chairman Wontumi’s Office as the Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman.

“It is not expected of a whole sector minister to make unfounded pronouncements based on speculations and propaganda which have given the public the capacity to unduly scrutinize, ridicule and lambast Chairman Wontumi and Akonta Mining Company Limited as being engaged in GALAMSEY and further labeling  Wontumi as a GALAMSEY Kingpin. As a sector minister, he should have cross checked his facts and be circumspect in his pronouncements”. Duncan stressed.

Duncan who was hurt at the turn of events further hinted :“My team and I advised the minister Abu Jinapo earlier before his public outburst, to exercise decorum in his pronouncements and attacks on Akonta Mining Company Limited because the facts he claimed to have didn’t support the reality on the grounds but he wouldn’t listen.  Now after thorough investigations commissioned by the President, Chairman Wontumi and Akonta Mining have been cleared”.

“Following the disgrace brought upon Chairman Wontumi, which action could be a basis for legal suit to claim damages, the faithful of Chairman Wontumi are therefore appealing to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo to terminate the appointment of Abu Jinapo as the minister for natural resources to avoid replication of any such reckless damage he has caused the ministry.” Duncan demanded
